Sceletium tortuosum was used by South African pastoralists and hunter-gatherers as a mood-altering substance from prehistoric times. The earliest written records of the use of the plant date back to 1662 and the plant was first illustrated in 1685. Sceletium was an item of barter in the time of Jan van Riebeeck, and there is documentation of trade from the Castle in Cape Town, South Africa. The traditionally prepared dried Sceletium was often chewed as a quid, and the saliva swallowed, but it has also been made into teas and tinctures. Sceletium used to be inhaled as a snuff, or smoked, usually with the addition of other herbs.

What does Extract 10:1- 100:1 mean?
10:1 means that for 1 kg of the extracted substance, 10 kg of raw material are needed. For 1 kg of a 100:1 extract, 100 kg of raw material are used. Therefore, 100:1 is ten times more concentrated.
so a 100:1 ratio of a product that has say 500mg means its a lot more concentrated, which is good, than a 10:1 of the same product that has 500mg .
What is the difference between powder and extract powder?
Extract based supplements are those in which a key compound is extracted from the plant and used either as a powder or a liquid in the supplement. Whereas on the contrary powdered supplements are those supplements in which the whole plant is dried up and made into a powder for use.
